Her interest in electronic dance music started in the evening she went to an establishment called Candy's Apartment. The DJ was listening to Silent Shout by the Knife. Vanity Fair said that Tolman has "calmly sure of taking over the whole show". Critics' Choice Television Award, Best Supporting Actress (Movie/Miniseries) as well as Golden Globe nominations were given for Tolman's role. In 2021, she starred in the role of Alma Filcott in the second season of the drama show Why Women Kill, and played Natalie Green in The Facts of Life portion in the third episode of Live in Front of a Studio Audience.
